A night out with some brews, food and fun
by Alexander Quebec
The Taylor Street Night Market is a summertime event featuring a fine selection of food trucks from Moveable Feast in collaboration with Gordon Biersch Brewery. I got a chance to come down and check out the festival one warm Thursday evening.
Crowd wise, this event was perfect for a weekday night, and the fact that the weather was cooperating added to this event’s sizable group of people looking for delicious California food. While it was held on the grounds of a brewery, the team had done an excellent job to ensure that the event maintained a family friendly atmosphere.
For dinner, I decided to check out Big Ed’s Buzzard BBQ truck, featuring all-American BBQ classics. I actually had a chance to sample some of their menu items at the Taste for the Space competition at Eastridge Mall a while back. This time I gave the pulled pork and hot links a try. As a pulled pork enthusiast, I can say that Big Ed’s had some great stuff going on with their pulled pork; it was juicy and full of that savory sweet BBQ flavor that all good pulled pork tastes like. The spicy hot link was a excellent counterpoint to the sweet BBQ flavor of the pulled pork. If you do the hot links, be sure to have another bottle of water ready in case you aren’t ready for the heat.
Overall, if the weather is good and you feel like going downtown without actually going downtown or if you’re wanting to bring the family along, check out the Taylor Street Night Market.
Check out the Taylor Street Night Market at the Gordon Biersch Brewery on Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free, but please note that parking is limited to street parking, so be prepared for a bit of a walk if you are driving in (and of course, please obey all traffic signs).
