Smack dab in the middle of Santa Clara County is Santa Clara, which is home to Mission City Creamery. Offering the quintesential American Diner experience, thier classic treats made with ice cream made in house and with locally sourced ingredients from this relative newcomer in the local ice cream scene. Milk & Wood - San Jose

Milk & Wood offer some incredibly delicious premium flavors on a stick, which you can then customize to your liking with toppings and drizzles of all kinds. The thai ice tea flavor is one of the most popular flavors out there. They also cater events as well, in case you want to have a party at your place instead of thiers. C.R.E.A.M - San Jose

While they are gaining momentum all over California, C.R.E.A.M. has some excellent ice creams sandwhiched between two freshly baked cookies made in house in a variety of Flavors of your choice. This writer recommends the Salted Caramel between two snickerdoodle cookies, although you could certainly eat the ice cream in a traditional cone or cup. Icicles Cream Roll - San Jose

Treatbot - San Jose

You can usually find Treatbot at many major food truck events; but if you can't make it to one, relax, they have a permanent location at San Pedro Square in Downtown San Jose. Best flavors to try are the Ube and the 408 (Caramel Ice cream with Oreo cookies and chocolate fudge sauce, trust us on this one) Photo: Treatbot

Campbell Creamery - Campbell

Foster Freeze - Milpitas

While they do boast a few locations in and around the area, the Milpitas one seems to be the best known location. Serving old school ice cream treats alongside diner classics like burgers and hot dogs, it's like taking a step back into the 50's, minus all the racism and red scare.

Gelato Classico Italian Gelato - Mountain View

Okay, it's technically gelato, but let's not get into semantics. Offering delicious Italian style gelato, this spot on Castro Street has long lines on warm, summer days and nights, make sure you chill out with some Straciatella to give you that Italian Vacay feel without the trip Photo: TripAdvisor.com

Ricks Ice Cream - Palo Alto

This spot has been in Palo Alto for over 60 years and is a favorite among locals. Featuring some unique flavors, you need to try thier Blue Moon (it's not beer flavored, we promise) or their award winning White Chocolate Ginger. Photo: FoodSpotting

What started as an Ice Cream of the month club has grown into a 3 scoop shop chain. Based in Palo Alto, the chain sticks to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients for all of thier ice creams.
