Viva (Taqueria) Las Vegas!

The Place

Situated along the busy North Milpitas Boulevard and down the street from the Police station is a small taqueria with their storefront emblazoned with a logo inspired by the famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. Taqueria Las Vegas stands out among the industrial neighborhood its set against. Today happens to be the day I visit, and sure enough, a decent lunchtime crowd has descended upon the place, ready for a delicious meal.

Walking inside the place, I note the homey , Mexican inspired decor up against the walls. The crowd here today makes this place seem smaller than it actually it, a good sign to me though, as that means that there’s definitely something here worth checking out.

The Goods

You should all know by now I love to go for the white meat tacos, chicken and pork. I usually gauge how well the tacos are made simply by the quality of the meat, and Las Vegas Taqueria didn’t disappoint.

The chicken tacos were legit juicy and seasoned well, relying more of the juice of the meat rather than lots of salt. The seasoning and the meat married perfectly and I love a taco that has juice falling from the side. It’s easy to mess up chicken, and so I am glad these turned out perfectly.

The Carnitas tacos were also amazing.  They smelled and tasted the way I come to expect from carnitas tacos, the savory meat mingling with the freshly cut vegetables and salsa. The meat was moist and juicy, with much of the flavor coming from the juice rather than through heavy seasoning or salt.

Taqueria Las Vegas has two locations: One in Milpitas and the other one in Fremont. They are open from 8:30 to 11:00 PM Daily. You can also order online for pick up or go through either GrubHub or DoorDash for delivery.
