Hometown Hungry: Milpitas with Alexander Quebec

Hello everyone, its me again.

Every so often, we will feature the bast places to check out in the hometowns of both the staff and readers of CaliPlate. I’d like to kick us off with a few of my favorite places from my hometown of Milpitas, CA.

This is a great “hole in the wall” kind of place, packed with employees of the nearby tech companies at lunch almost every weekday. I love most of the items here, especially the curries, the channa masala and the naan breads, especially with a side of rice. What I really come here for, however, are the samosas. In case you don’t know what they are, they are filled with a filling of either potatoes or meat and deep fried. They are the best.

Mikonos Grill – 756 E Calaveras Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035 / (408) 942-6972

My dad and I come here at least a few times a month for lunch or dinner and conversation. I usually get the Moussaka or the Gyros, but on occasion I’ll order the greek chicken, usually with a side of rice, salad and Avgolemeno,or chicken and lemon soup. When I’m really hungry, I also order a side of falafel patties or a spanakopita, or both.

Banana Leaf – 182 Ranch Dr, Milpitas, CA 95035 / (408) 719-9811

This place is more of a special occasion place for me since it gets packed easily, and it is a crowd favorite amongst my friends and family. The food here has been pretty good Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine.

The curries are what I come here for, as well as the roti and the pad thai is pretty good.
What do you guys think? Do you know of any places in my hometown that have some awesome places to check out? Does your hometown have some good spots you’d recommend people check out? Let us know in the comments below.
