Pasta Pomodoro, a bay area Italian food chain with over 30 locations at its peak in both Northern and Southern California, has closed down this week, according to various media outlets.

Founded in 1994 in the city of San Francisco by Adriano Paganini, the chain specialized in moderately priced Italian food in an hip, upscale environment. Many of the employees of the chain were notified of the sudden closure the day after Christmas via Text Message. All employees will be offered their last paycheck on Friday.

No official word has been offered as to the reasons behind the chains sudden closure.
