#TacoTuesday – Tacos near Santa Clara University

Author:

Onward with the search for campus tacos.

Continuing with our journey for local taco spots near California college campuses, we head over to Santa Clara University (home to another group of Spartans). Based on some research, reviews and previous experiences, here are some places you need to check out if you’re in or near SCU (in no particular order).

The tacos you need to try at this little spot are the lengua and the carne asada.

Yes, there are some pretty crazy wait times at this popular spot, but many say that the wait is worth it especially for the crunchy tacos. Diners recommend the steak and carne asada tacos at this spot. Another thing people love is that the truck is open super late.

This place is a bit more upscale (aka Boujee) than your typical taqueria. On top of that, the place reportedly has a decent brunch menu too. Sometimes, however, you do want to up the ante on your taco experience, or perhaps you have an important lunch date or romantic rendevous, this is the place to go. Whats really cool about this place? All the tortillas are made in house, right on the dining room floor.

This place, aside from serving tacos, also has a decent selection of BBQ and beer. Previous guests mention the beer selection contains quite a bit of craft brews that are phenomenal, and the tri-tip is also another item on the menu to try. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a discount is given to those with a valid student ID (will update as more info is confirmed).

We’ve actually been here in a previous post, but this place is within a reasonable distance to SCU. This place makes traditional tacos, but it’s the seafood tacos that really shine at this converted gas station turned taco restaurant. The seafood tostada is also quite popular here as well.

Did we miss something? What do you guys think of our choices? Let us know in the comments below.

Oops – In an earlier version, we listed 3-3-3 as a nerby option. Currently, the food truck does not serve the area around the campus. We have removed the entry and regret this error.
