Irvine based Taco Bell will be launching a new item this coming Thursday (1/26).
Dubbed The Naked Chicken Chalupa this taco will be made of a filling of cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomato wrapped around with a shell made of fried chicken instead of the traditional crispy flatbread the chain normally uses. Early reports show some very positive feedback regarding the new item. We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
If you’re wondering why this sounds so similar to the Double Down from KFC (pictured below), which was a similar concept, it’s probably due to the fact that both Taco Bell and KFC, in addition to Pizza Hut are all owned by YUM! Brands.
Taco Bell is no stranger to turning the taco and the genre on it’s head as they have demonstrated with the successful Doritos Locos taco launch in 2012 and their revamped breakfast menu launch in 2014.
If you try it out, let us know what you think in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you.
